WDAY Storm Tracker Meteorologist, Jesse Ritka, says this comes with a lot of positives for residents of North Dakota.
Two strong thunderstorms moved across northern North Dakota on Monday night.
The thin Martian air does heat up in the sunlight to a temperature of around 70 degrees but can just as easily fall to 50 below at night.
The sky is perpetually cloudy, and the air temperature at the surface hovers near 900 degrees year-round.
Like most fogs, it can disappear just as quickly as it develops.
Temperatures at this part of the atmosphere are not only below freezing, but usually well below zero.
Eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota has had around half the average rainfall since June 1.
