In this Weather Wednesday we take a look at some of the latest ice out dates across Minnesota lakes.
Every spring is different yet basically the same.
Sixteen of the 31 days had freezing morning temperatures, and it snowed three times.
The retreating glacier would have delivered brutally cold winters with hot, dry summers and lots of wind.
It does appear that warmer-than-average weather is likely to persist for the next couple of weeks.
Marquette, MI, has gotten more than 22 feet of snow this winter.
The earliest occurrence of 70 degrees in the Red River Valley usually happens sometime in April.
However, Aprils were generally warm from 1998 through 2012.

This was also the second snowiest March-April.
The warmth usually only lasts a few short hours.
